Where are the ads?
There are none!
Perhaps OpenAI will eventually add ads. In a recent talk Sam Altman made it sound like an ad-supported model was unlikely.
"I will disclose, just as like a personal bias, that I hate ads. I think ads were important to give the early internet a business model but I do think that they somewhat fundamentally misalign a user's incentives with the company providing the service.
I'm not totally against them. I'm not saying OpenAI would never consider ads, but I don't like them in general and I think that ads plus AI is sort of uniquely unsettling to me...
...There's something I really like about the simplicity of our model in that we make great AI and you pay us for it."

Will ChatGPT Search kill Google?
From what I have seen with ChatGPT search so far it is a much better search experience than Google Search.
Will it be widely adopted though?
We learned in the recent DOJ vs Google trial that the main reason Google has a monopoly in Search is because it is the default option on most Apple and Android phones. It's really hard to get people to change their default choice.
However, we've never seen a product with such fast adoption as ChatGPT. I do think it's possible that ChatGPT Search is good enough to pull people away from Google.
Of course, Google is working towards their own AI powered search environment. Let's see if it is as good as ChatGPT Search. And if Google can get there fast enough.
Till then, I'll be doing most of my Searches from ChatGPT Search.
